Columbia: USC Summer Drum Major Clinic & Leadership Academy: Grades 10th-12th
This intensive 3-day clinic is intended for rising 10th-12th grade students who will either serve as their band's drum major or other student leader in the fall.
The USC Summer Drum Major Clinic and Leadership Academy provides high school leaders with two tracks: Drum Major and Leadership. The Drum Major track will focus on conducting fundamentals, technique, and musicality while the Leadership Track will include sessions on motivation, conflict resolution, and music and marching instruction. While both groups receive group instruction on basic conducting and leadership skills, small breakout sessions allow the tracks to delve into intensive training equipping students to successfully lead their high school marching bands. The clinic culminates in an exhibition for which families and friends are invited.
