Katz & Phillips, P.A. Ashley Rose Honorary Diabetes Law Student Scholarship Award
Katz & Phillips, P.A. is proud to support future lawyers with the launch of their first-ever Diabetes Law Student Scholarship Award, named in honor of founding partner David Katz’s daughter Ashley Rose Katz who was diagnosed with diabetes at 18 months of age, presented to one high-achieving, bright student intending to pursue a career in law in the United States.
Our Orlando law firm will be sponsoring an annual scholarship for a law school student whose life has been impacted by diabetes. In recognition of the fact that diabetes often makes it more challenging to take on academic endeavors such as law school, we will set aside $1,000 to fund this scholarship, which is designed to assist eligible students with type I diabetes with their law school tuition.
The law firm of Katz & Phillips, P.A. is devoted to raising awareness and funds to help treat and cure type I diabetes. Just last year, we participated as a team in the Step Out: Walk to Cure Diabetes, an annual walk and fundraiser sponsored by the American Diabetes Association. Katz & Phillips, P.A. also acted as title sponsor for Dance for Diabetes, an annual dance show whose goals are to promote awareness of the disease, raise funds for a cure, and promote healthy activity for individuals who suffer from type I diabetes.
We focus our efforts on diabetes awareness and fundraising for a cure due to the personal effects that type I diabetes has had on our lives. Both the wife and daughter of David Katz, founding and managing partner of Katz & Phillips, P.A., have type I diabetes. In fact, Ashley Katz, the youngest child of David and Risa Katz, was diagnosed with type I diabetes at the age of just 18 months. Risa, who has been dealing with type I diabetes for the past 20 years, as well as her husband and children, continue to wait for the development of a cure for the disease. It is our hope that our scholarship program will help inspire those living with type 1 diabetes live happy and healthy live and help achieve their goals.
Katz & Phillips, P.A. has developed this scholarship program not only to call attention to type I diabetes and the toll it can take on those individuals who are diagnosed with the disease, but also to give back to their community in a unique way. We look forward to helping students further their legal aspirations through tuition assistance.
