Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship: $1,000
The Education Committee of the National Hook-Up of Black Women plans and implements educational programs and activities sponsored by the organization. This Committee enhances the professional development of chapter members through planned activities or workshops on various topics. It maintains communication with scholarship recipients to determine their current educational status, progress, and academic accomplishments.
It offers mentorship and advisement to current scholarship recipients to strengthen and/or enhance their educational achievements. It is our desire that scholarship recipients, upon graduation and after gaining full-time employment, will join NHBW and continue the legacy of helping other youths to achieve.
A graduating high school senior
Proof of acceptance at an accredited college or university for the Fall Semester
Accumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or better, documented by a seven (7) semester high school transcript
Involvement in school and community activities
Verification of at least 200 hours of community service Demonstration of written communication skills in a 450-500-word, typed and double spaced essay on one of the topics listed below:
1. One of the goals of NHBW, Inc. is to provide a means to build better communities through service activities. Describe a community service organization and/or activity you have been involved in and why.
2. The NHBW, Inc. works throughout the year to help students reach their personal goals. Describe your goals for the future and how this scholarship will help you achieve those goals.
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (Letters from family members are not acceptable.)
